1940s Copper Vickers Wellington WW2 Bomber With A Wingspan Of 36 cm

This is a very collectible large model of a 1940s Copper Vickers Wellington WW2 Bomber With A Wingspan Of 36 cm.

In pretty good condition, with surface scratches, scuffs and pitting in the metal. It's made from solid copper and very heavy (almost 2Kg unpacked)!

Approximate size:
Wing Span: 36 cm
Height: 4 cm
Length: 25.5 cm (10")

This model captures the silhouette of the aircraft and is very similar to the RAF recognition model aircraft produced, usually in wood, during WW2 as a teaching aid for allied troops. This version comes without a stand but has a screw holder in the base to add a stand. It has been lightly polished.

These models were often made from recycled aircraft metal during and post WW2, and are often referred to as 'trench art.'

A wonderful display item for the office desk, study and hobby room!

According to Wikipedia: "The Wellington was made from the mid-1930s at Brooklands in Weybridge, Surrey, led by Vickers-Armstrongs' chief designer Rex Pierson; a key feature of the aircraft is its geodetic airframe fuselage structure, principally designed by Barnes Wallis."
